Richmond International Raceway to host inaugural Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run

Description: Richmond International Raceway will host the inaugural Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run at 6:30 p.m. The course will take participants around the RIR property, as well its historic track surface. Post-race festivities include photos in Gatorade Victory Lane, food trucks and craft beer on pit road and music. Participants will receive an official Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run hat. The event kicks off the April spring race weekend with the ToyotaCare 250 on Apr. 29 and the Toyota Owners 400 on Apr. 30. To register, visit www.rir.com/5k.

Spring PlantFest at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6. Now in its 30th year, the plant sale features approximately 40 vendors from around the region offering a wide array of plants, shrubs, trees and garden-themed items.
