Hanover Book Festival to take place at Times-Dispatch Community Bldg.

Description: The Hanover Book Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Times-Dispatch Community Building, 8460 Times Dispatch Dr. in Mechanicsville. Greet dozens of current authors, attend a workshop for aspiring writers, and browse books – for every four bought, you’ll receive a free book. There will also be a silent auction, children’s activities and more. Admission is free and open to the community. Brain Injury Association of Virginia to host RVA Field Day at Richmond Volleyball Club

Description: The Brain Injury Association of Virginia will host RVA Field Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richmond Volleyball Club. RVA Field Day consists of competitive, traditional Field Day games, and teams of four will fundraise to participate in a series of games requiring dexterity, memory, and skill. For spectators, there will be music, food and beverages, arts and crafts and more. Bicycle helmets will be given away to the first 50 children who stop by the sponsors table. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Camp Bruce McCoy, BIAV's summer camp for adults with brain injury and one of the organization's longest running programs. Description: Dress for Success Central Virginia will celebrate five years of empowering women to achieve economic independence at “Making HERstory: 5th Anniversary Gala & Fashion Show” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton Richmond Airport, 4700 South Laburnum Ave. Dress for Success provides hundreds of women with professional attire; all clothing comes from public donations. When donated clothing is soiled, damaged or outdated, Dress for Success challenges local designers to create high fashion garments for the organization’s Recycled Fashion Show. Much like Dress for Success transforms the lives of women around the world, designers transform these unsuitable garments into amazing works of art. Tickets are $55.
