The WAY in Sandston to hold first Easter Grand Gathering

Description: The WAY, located at 2 E. Williamsburg Rd. in Sandston, will hold its first Easter Grand Gathering event from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a yard sale, vendor sale, bake sale, community lunch with hamburgers and hot dogs, music and silent auction. Kid’s activities starting at 11 a.m. include games, bounce house, arts and crafts, Easter egg hunts, face painting and more. Open to the community. Proceeds benefit The WAY. Description: Metro Diner is opening at Libbie Place Tuesday, Apr. 18. Get a sneak peek during their Friends and Family Event Apr. 15-16. Enjoy classic dishes with a twist like the Chicken and Waffles with a house-made strawberry butter, or Yo Hala on the Square – a stuffed challah bread French toast with house-made strawberry and blueberry compote – for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All proceeds on Apr. 15 will benefit the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation; all proceeds on Apr. 16 will benefit Junior Achievement of Central Virginia. Dogwood Wine Festival at Reynolds Crossing to benefit Wine for Cures

Description: The Dogwood Wine Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Reynolds Crossing. The festival will include more than 100 local vendors, wineries, and family-friendly entertainment, including an 18-piece bossa nova band. Proceeds from the event will benefit Wine for Cures, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that supports patients in chemotherapy, as well as specific research by organizations such as Massey and VCU Cancer Center. Wine for Cures was founded by Gil Miles, a four-time leukemia patient, to celebrate life and support those struggling in the day-to-day trials of chemotherapy. Description: Peter Rabbit will greet visitors and pose for photographs at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Apr. 15-16. Activities in the Children’s Garden will include drawing with sidewalk chalk, hula hooping and making garden hats. Families can also borrow a basket from the Story Tree – inside each basket is a book, blanket and activity. Included with regular Garden admission. Description: Randy Johnston will perform at 8 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Rd. Johnston is one of the most widely recorded and prolific guitarists of his generation. In addition to releasing 12 albums, Johnston has toured and played with some of the most acclaimed names in jazz, including Lionel Hampton, Houston Person and Etta Jones. His live performances and last two recordings feature him as a vocalist as well, singing his original songs as well as standards and blues standards. The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond, 1000 Blanton Ave., will host Gallery at First UU, its 52nd annual Fine Arts and Craft Show, Sept. 20-24. The show features an eclectic mix of oil paintings, watercolors, lithographs, fiber art, photographs, pottery, furniture, jewelry, stained glass, paper, wood and wearable art from 175 local and regional artists.
