Ceremony, walk planned in observance of National Crime Victims' Rights Week

Description: In observance of National Crime Victims' Rights Week (April 2-8), and to honor victims of crime in Henrico County and raise awareness about crime victims' rights and issues, Henrico County Victim/Witness will hold a commemorative ceremony and informative walk at 3 p.m. in the Henrico County Police Memorial Garden at 4301 E. Parham Rd. The event will include remarks from Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas, Commonwealth's Attorney Shannon Taylor, and Lt. Col. Clarence Hunter, Jr., Henrico Division of Police. Richmond Spring Carnival in Midlothian planned Mar. 30 to Apr. 9

Description: The Richmond Spring Carnival will take place Mar. 30 to Apr. 9 at 6807 Midlothian Tnpk. This family-friendly event features favorite fair food, games, and rides for all ages, from fun kiddie rides to state-of-the-art thrill rides, all along a colorful midway. Admission is free; ride cost varies. Unlimited ride wristbands are $25 Monday-Thursday and $30 Friday-Sunday. Ride tickets are also available onsite for $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus one free ride. Hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. HCPL to host All Henrico Reads author Sy Montgomery at Glen Allen HS

Description: The Henrico County Public Library will host New York Times bestselling author Sy Montgomery at 7 p.m. at Glen Allen High School as part of its annual All Henrico Reads program. Her novel and the featured All Henrico Reads title, “The Soul of an Octopus,” explores the emotional and physical worlds of the octopus – a surprisingly complex, intelligent and spirited creature – and the remarkable connections it makes with humans. Books will be available for sale and the author will autograph books following the program. Admission is free and open to the public; no tickets required.
