Retail Merchants Association to host March First Friday Forum on local food

Description: The Retail Merchants Association’s March First Friday Forum will be held from 7:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at the University of Richmond’s Jepson Alumni Center. The program will highlight the local food movement and Real Local RVA, an organization that has been instrumental in raising awareness, education and support for local food. Come hear personal accounts about how it’s changing business models for local retailers, restaurants and farmers alike. Admission is $30 for RMA members and $40 for nonmembers. Description: The Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association will host the RVA Career Expo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Over 100 employers will be on hand to recruit for internships, full-time and part-time jobs in healthcare, engineering, information technology, finance, insurance, hospitality, education and more. You do not need to be a Hokie to participate. Pre-registered candidates benefit from having their resumes stored in a searchable database from which employers are already screening and will continue to access after the event is over. Description: The Midlothian Junior Women’s Club will again sponsor the Cinderella Dreams Project to help young women attend their high school proms by providing gowns and accessories for free to any girl who, like Cinderella, needs help obtaining a gown for the ball. Shopping hours are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 11 and 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. March 19 at Westchester Commons, 301 Perimeter Dr., in Midlothian. Description: Three-Penny Theatre will present “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” a new play adapted from Victor Hugo’s classic novel, at 7 p.m. March 10 and at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 11 at The Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church. Set in and around Notre Dame Cathedral, the story explores the place where human emotions but up against organized religion and faith. Description: Henrico County Recreation and Parks’ Adventure Series returns to the county Administrative Board Room at 4301 E. Parham Rd. from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The topic will be Mt. Kilimanjaro, commonly referred to as a “trekking peak” in the climbing community, requiring no previous experience or technical skill to complete successfully. Presenter Jeff Reynolds, an international mountain guide with over 34 years climbing experience, will discuss planning, fitness, logistics, gear, altitude and safety. For ages 12 and older.
