Cultural Arts Center announces fall class schedule

Classes ranging from yoga to jewelry-making highlight the fall schedule at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, which was announced today.

Classes cover topics including culinary arts, fiber arts, visual and performance arts and others. Instruction is structured to appeal to a wide range of abilities from beginners to experts of all ages.

Yoga center hosting art exhibit

Glenmore Yoga and Wellness Center in western Henrico County is currently hosting a display of pastel paintings created by members of the Mid-Atlantic Pastel Society.

The exhibit (which includes Affirmation by Elizabeth Hood, pictured) features meditative scenes of nature as well as still life arrangements.

Reynolds to host ‘The 4 Seasons’ art exhibit

The Conference Center Gallery in the Workforce Development and Conference Center on the Reynolds Community College’s Parham Road Campus will host Kimberly Henley Miller’s art collection "The 4 Seasons" beginning May 30. The exhibition includes more than 34 pieces and will be on display through Aug. 3.

After taking a painting class, Miller became passionate in the pursuit of developing her own voice - the fascination of the interplay of color and forms to reveal patterns, shapes and illusions of images from nature. With no central focal point in her paintings, Miller’s design gives a balance to the composition, while allowing the viewer to move freely throughout the painting.

Center for the Arts at Henrico H.S. to present 2017 Visual Art Senior Show

The Center for the Arts at Henrico High School will present its 2017 Visual Art Senior Show May 26 at Art Works, 320 Hull Street in Richmond, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

Screening of “A Billion Lives” planned Nov. 17

Regal Virginia Center Stadium 20 will host a special screening of the documentary A Billion Lives, promoted by Vaperz Advantage, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:35 p.m. Nov. 17. Remaining tickets are $12 apiece but limited. The documentary examines the battle between government, tobacco and pharmaceutical companies and the e-cigarette industry.

Reynolds CC hosting student art show

The Conference Center Gallery in the Workforce Development and Conference Center on J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College’s Parham Road Campus opened its doors to the public this week for the annual Student Art Show. The exhibition includes more than 70 pieces and will be on display through April 27.

The artwork includes paintings, drawings, digital media, mixed media and photographs. The art show results will be announced at a public reception the evening of April 27. The reception will begin at 6 p.m., with award presentations to follow at 7 p.m.

Tuckahoe Artists Association to be featured at Cultural Arts Center

October’s Fine Arts Exhibit at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, by members of the Tuckahoe Artists Association, will be on display Oct. 1-31. ‘Exhibition III’ to open at CACGA Sept. 17

The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will host a free grand opening of "Exploration III" Sept. 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Gumenick Family Gallery. The exhibit, by artist Vinnie Gonzalez, will be on display at the center through Nov. 15.

Gonzalez, who works with a unique process layering metallic and pearlescent paint and powders to create texture and tactile surfaces commanded by light, will be in attendance to meet guests. Wine and other refreshments will be available. The Cultural Arts Center is located at 2880 Mountain Road in Glen Allen.

Join the History Investigators as they discover the stories, secrets and treasures of local historic sites. Children ages 6-12, accompanied by an adult, will find objects hidden in plain sight, participate in history-based activities and go on a treasure hunt.
