CAT Theatre to host Red Eye 10s International Play Festival

CAT Theatre once again will serve as the East Coast host to the Red Eye 10s International Play Festival, which will take place Sept. 30.

The festival is a 24-hour, 10-minuet play festival featuring six original plays in multiple theaters around the world at the same time. Red Eye hosts produce the six plays and share that process with everyone else involved through social media and redeye10s.com website.

Cultural Arts Center announces fall class schedule

Classes ranging from yoga to jewelry-making highlight the fall schedule at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, which was announced today.

Classes cover topics including culinary arts, fiber arts, visual and performance arts and others. Instruction is structured to appeal to a wide range of abilities from beginners to experts of all ages.

‘Five Flights’ opens July 20 at CAT Theatre

Five Flights by Alan Bock, an independent theatre production by IAMSHE Productions, will open July 20 at 8 p.m. at CAT Theatre in Henrico and will continue through July 29.

The performance centers around siblings Ed and Adele, who inherit an enormous aviary that their late father built for his deceased wife, whose soul, he believed, had transformed into the body of a wren.

Henrico actress lands role in Christian TV series

Liv Matthews always knew she wanted to be an actress – ever since she started singing songs from the Sound of Music at a very young age. Many told her that she would grow out of it, but she is still very passionate, already acting as a paid extra in the movie Coming Through the Rye.

UR Modlin Center for the Arts announces 2017-18 show schedule

The Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond has announced its 2017-2018 show schedule, featuring an eclectic mix of performances and music. This is the Modlin Center's 21st season of programming and performances. There will be performances by Mandolin Orange, Irma Thomas, Shovels & Ropes, Rhiannon Giddens and more.

Yoga center hosting art exhibit

Glenmore Yoga and Wellness Center in western Henrico County is currently hosting a display of pastel paintings created by members of the Mid-Atlantic Pastel Society.

The exhibit (which includes Affirmation by Elizabeth Hood, pictured) features meditative scenes of nature as well as still life arrangements.

Cultural Arts Center releases summer class schedule

The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen has released its summer class 2017 schedule. Registration is now open and the new class roster includes more than 100 classes starting at $25.

The schedule includes new additions, such as summer camps for youth and an imagination studio. Other classes will include confectionery arts for kids, fiber arts and visual and performance arts. The center also offers private classes, which require six to 10 participants depending on the class.

Richmond Triangle Players renames theatre for Henrico realtor

The Richmond Triangle Players recently renamed its theatre in honor of a Henrico realtor.

Robert B. Moss, a real estate agent with Long & Foster | Christie’s International Real Estate's Westham office, helped the organization locate the building and provided the naming gift for it, as well.

The building, now known as the Robert B. Moss Theatre, is located at 1300 Altamont Avenue in Richmond.

Reynolds to host ‘The 4 Seasons’ art exhibit

The Conference Center Gallery in the Workforce Development and Conference Center on the Reynolds Community College’s Parham Road Campus will host Kimberly Henley Miller’s art collection "The 4 Seasons" beginning May 30. The exhibition includes more than 34 pieces and will be on display through Aug. 3.

After taking a painting class, Miller became passionate in the pursuit of developing her own voice - the fascination of the interplay of color and forms to reveal patterns, shapes and illusions of images from nature. With no central focal point in her paintings, Miller’s design gives a balance to the composition, while allowing the viewer to move freely throughout the painting.
