Raise funds for the Douglas Freeman High School Athletic Booster Club at tomorrow’s 7th annual Rebel Run 5k or assist the American Cancer Society at the 10th annual Strike Out Cancer bowling challenge and silent auction at Bowl America Short Pump. Proceeds from two Glen Allen VFW concerts on Saturday will benefit veterans and their families. Happy St. Patrick’s Day! To celebrate, check out Innsbrook’s 8th annual St. Paddy’s Palooza – there will be music and dancing, a hot air balloon, kid’s activities, festive green beverages and volunteers shaving their heads to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. For more Irish fun, visit Walkerton Tavern for stories of Irish immigrants during the 19th century, traditional Irish foods, songs and an Irish craft. Nineteen of the Richmond region’s most renowned historic sites will offer visitors a “passport” to travel back in time this weekend and several are in Henrico County! This is a great opportunity to learn more about the county’s 400-year history as some of the sites are not usually open on a regular basis. Richmond-area children will be able to receive dental treatments at no cost during Sharing Smiles Day, an annual day of free dental care hosted by children’s dental provider Kool Smiles. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Kool Smiles Southside Plaza, 4722 N. Southside Plaza St. in Richmond. Available treatments will include dental exams, limited emergency care, extractions, and restorative care. A limited number of appointments are available. Parents are strongly encouraged to register their children on the Kool Smiles website in advance of the event. Treatment is on a first-come, first-served basis and pre-registration does not guarantee treatment. Treatment offerings will be determined by the dentist.
