The Henrico Theatre Company will present the romantic comedy “She Loves Me” July 7-23 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Georg and Amalia are two feuding clerks in a European parfumerie during the 1930s who secretly find solace in their anonymous pen pals, little knowing their respective correspondents are none other than each other. Virginia Repertory Theatre will present a musical retelling of the beloved American story “The Little Engine That Could” July 7-30 at The Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. The classic family tale of determination and perseverance is reimagined through the heartwarming relationship between a young girl and her grandfather. Claire Lynch will perform at 8 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Rd. Lynch is a three-time IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year, a 2014 IBMA Song of the Year winner and Grammy nominee. Her latest album, the Grammy-nominated “North By South,” is a collection of tracks paying homage to some of her favorite Canadian songwriters, interpreting songs from “greats above the Great Lakes” like Gordon Lightfoot and Ron Sexsmith and infusing them with her signature acoustic treatment. “Rise Up Strong: Be Healthy” is a multi-generational event taking place July 7-9 at Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church, 11421 Gayton Rd. Events for all ages start at 5 p.m. July 7 with a cookout followed by a circle dance and vespers. July 8 activities include yoga, art for relaxation and a nature walk. The culminating event will be the packaging of meals for Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop World Hunger) at 5 p.m. July 9. The church hopes to pack 20,000 meals for school children across the world.
