CAT’s 2017 entry into the Acts of Faith Festival, “Wishing Well” is a contemporary comedy about mother-daughter revelations during one stormy weekend in North Carolina that puts the “fun” in dysfunctional. A celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held at 3 p.m. at the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, 1440 East Laburnum Ave. The event will include a one-act play written and directed by Tony Cosby, entitled "Put Down the Guns;” guest appearances by TV One's Pearline Muckelvene and The Coates Brothers; singer and J. Brown impersonator Oscar Fields; and a musical tribute to Gil Scott Heron. A light dinner will be served. Dabbs House served as Robert E. Lee’s headquarters during the summer of 1862. The Children’s Museum of Richmond’s Short Pump location at Short Pump Town Center will host a Snow Days Festival at 10 a.m. Meet the 2017 Scholarship Snow Queen. VCU's Office of Continuing and Professional Education will offer free events during 3rd Wednesdays at Regency Square. Today’s topic is “Opioids in Virginia.” Experts will talk about current Virginia statistics and what is happening in local communities. They will also review some of the changes happening to address the opioid epidemic, including increasing continuing education for a variety of providers, community resources and training, and treatment resources.
