Restaurant Watch


Following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “priority” or “priority foundation” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “core” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.

NOV. 2
Anna's Pizza Pasta and Subs, 601 North Airport Drive – Two priority violations reported (employees observed entering kitchen and failing to change gloves and wash hands before working, employee observed moving dishes in three-compartment sink and failing to change gloves and wash hands before engaging in work; wings left out for about two hours cooling at improper temperatures) and one priority foundation violation reported.
Auntie Anne's Pretzels, 10101 Brook Road – No priority or priority foundation violations reported.
Hyderabad Bawarchi, 9018 West Broad Street – Two priority violations reported (shell eggs observed over potatoes and leafy greens in walk-in; foods at prep refrigerator observed at improper temperatures) and no priority foundation violations reported.
La Cabana, 4086 Crockett Street – Two priority violations reported (raw chicken and steak observed stored over cooked foods and cut limes, raw liver observed stored above cooked beans and other cooked foods in reach-in; carnitas in steam table removed and placed into microwave for reheating, observed at improper temperatures after using microwave) and one priority foundation violation reported.
Original Mexican Restaurant, 6406 Horsepen Road – One priority violation reported (no sanitizer observed on dishes coming out of dishmachine -- the sanitizer line observed leaking onto the floor) and one priority foundation violation reported.
Popeye's, 8044 West Broad Street – No violations reported.
Subway Sandwiches and Salads, 4014 Glenside Drive – One priority violation reported (meatballs observed hot holding at improper temperatures) and one priority foundation violation reported.
Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe, 4024 Cox Road – No priority or priority foundation violations reported.
Teppanyaki Grill & Buffet, 9043 West Broad Street – Five priority violations reported (employee observed wiping face and failing to wash hands before cooking; beef broccoli observed at improper temperature; no available proof of parasite destruction for salmon; chicken from the previous night observed at improper temperature; dishes observed being washed at the three-compartment sink with no sanitizer in the water) and two priority foundation violations reported.

Christian's Pizza, 7003 Three Chopt Road – One priority violation reported (TCS food – sliced tomatoes, gyro meat, ham – observed at improper temperatures in pizza prep unit) and no priority foundation violations reported.
Domino's Pizza, 10614 Patterson Avenue – One priority violation reported (chicken in make table observed at improper temperature -- chicken was stacked too high) and no priority foundation violations reported.
Eat 33, 6901 Staples Mill Road – One priority violation reported (prepared ready-to-eat potato salad in refrigeration unit was held for more than 7 days after preparation) and no priority foundation violations reported.
