CAT Theatre announces 54th season, calls for directors and designers

Audiences can expect comedy, drama, mystery and everything in between in CAT Theatre’s 54th season, which will kick off in September with a Sherlock Holmes mystery by Ken Ludwig.

Playing Sept. 1 through Oct. 16, Baskerville transforms Arthur Conan Doyle's classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure, with Sherlock Holmes on the hunt for a killer as male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one.

In November, Ripcord by David Lindsay-Abaire will portray a cantankerous nursing home resident forced to share her quarters with an infuriatingly chipper new arrival. Pat Walker will star in the show, playing Nov. 3 through Nov. 18.

From Feb. 2-17, 2018 CAT will feature its entry into the Acts of Faith Festival, The Diviners by Jim Leonard, Jr. Zachary Owen will direct this story of a disturbed young man and his friendship with a disenchanted preacher in southern Indiana in the early 1930s.

Lucky Me, playing Apr. 6-21, 2018, is a comedy by Robert Caisley about love, aging, bad luck, and finding romance. The role of Sara will be played by Amy Berlin.

Doublewide, Texas, written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, will conclude the season, playing June 1 through June 16, 2018. The story is about the inhabitants of one of the smallest trailer parks in Texas, who are thrown for a loop when they learn their little community is about to taken over by a nearby town.

CAT Theatre is committed to welcoming and nurturing new artists and directors as part of the CAT family, and invites prospective directors and designers to submit their resumes with a letter of intent indicating the show(s) they are most interested in by May 5, 2017. Applicants should include a brief statement describing how they heard about CAT and what it is about CAT that makes them want to work with Richmond’s Professional Theatre with a Community Heart.
