Henrico’s Rayvon Owen among headliners at Live Art June 11

Rayvon Owen
Richmonder Rayvon Owen and SPARC alumnus Jason Mraz top the list of nationally known recording artists who will be joined onstage by 200 SPARC students with and without disabilities at “Live Art: Dream” June 11 at 5 p.m. at Altria Theater.

Live Art is the inclusive program, now in its fifth year, for students with and without disabilities created by School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC). Working together in a variety of visual and performing arts classes for one year, students with a range of disabilities alongside typically developing students, rehearse their performances while building relationships and understanding of one another using SPARC’s unique ACE (acceptance, compassion, and empathy) curriculum.

The Henrico County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Henrico Master Gardeners will present a series of free workshops this spring to help residents care for their lawns and gardens. The final workshop, “Make Your Lawn a SMART Lawn,” will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Belmont Recreation Center.
