Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden up for national award

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is in the running for USA Today’s contest for the nation’s "Favorite Botanical Garden." The garden is one of only 20 nationally to be nominated. Voting ends March 28 at noon, and the winner will be announced April 1. Daily voting is open at http://bit.ly/BESTgarden.

In 2014, Lewis Ginter voted into the number two spot in a similar USA Today 10Best Reader’s Choice contest for the 10 Best Public Gardens.

With more than 386,000 visitors last year, the garden educates more than 12,000 schoolchildren annually, including a quarter from low to moderate income households participating at no charge; grows more than 10,000 pounds of fresh produce annually to feed the hungry; and contributes to community public greening initiatives supporting the economy and enhancing quality of life.
