Eisenman & Associates, Inc. employee Tracie Grady recently was named the 2017 Virginia Business Meeting Planner of the Year. Grady was chosen by a committee of industry leaders among 19 nominees. The award is a partnership between Virginia Business magazine and the Virginia Society of Association Executives. Its goal is to recognize the unsung hero of the association, non-profit, and business world, the professional meeting planner. Grady works with clients in a number of areas, including membership management, publication design, membership directories and convention/tradeshow programs. She has worked in the association industry, primarily focused on meeting planning, for more than 20 years. She is a graduate of VCU. The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is honoring Learning Care Group (LCG) with the 2017 PHA “Partner of the Year” Award for the company’s extensive work in prioritizing healthier practices in the daily lives of young children. The “Partner of the Year” Award is presented to the partner who demonstrates how it is successfully executing key PHA strategies, including using innovative approaches to address childhood obesity. In earning this award, LCG was selected from a pool of over 200 eligible organizations. LCG’s 900+ schools nationwide include two La Petite Academy locations in Henrico County. La Petite Academy has reduced fat and sugar by eliminating fried foods and juice; enhanced the daily menu to include over 50 fruits and vegetables and more than 30 multi-cultural offerings; and found ways to keep the children active each day, such as with dance breaks to get re-energized for learning.

Real estate development, building and management firm HHHunt has been named among the top 100 adoption-friendly workplaces in the United States and second within the real estate industry by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. This is the third year in a row that HHHunt has been recognized as a national leader in adoption-friendly policies and benefits. Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces are determined by an analysis of financial assistance and paid leave for families who adopt, based on surveys completed by employers. Break-out lists are available noting America’s top 100 adoption-friendly employers, the top 10 by size, and the leaders in each industry. Since 2007, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has compiled an annual list of the top adoption-friendly workplaces.

Bunting, P.E. and Victor Valenzuela, P.E., Utility Division staff engineers in the Richmond office, have earned their professional engineer license. Bunting, a member of the Infrastructure Evaluation and Rehabilitation Team, is responsible for the video review, system assessment and evaluation, and CAD design of wastewater infrastructure rehabilitation and replacement. She has been with the firm for four years and is a graduate of Clarkson University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Valenzuela is responsible for preliminary water and sewer infrastructure design, construction drawing and technical specification development assistance, construction administration services, preliminary analysis and feasibility and engineering reports. He has been with the firm for five years and holds a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech.

Virginia Credit Union will open its newest branch at 9498 W. Broad St. on Jan. 17. Located in a former restaurant near the intersection with Springfield Road, the 6,166 square foot structure was extensively renovated and enhanced to serve the needs of credit union members. The West Broad Branch has four drive-through lanes. Two ATMs provide members with images of deposited checks as well as an itemized tally of cash deposits. The large interior space provides additional offices for personal assistance. Safe deposit boxes are also available. The Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and Government Affairs Committee will host the 37th annual Legislative Reception to kick off the 2012 General Assembly Session on Thursday, Jan. 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at UNOS, 700 N. 4th St. The reception will honor Capital Region legislators and local officials from the City of Richmond and surrounding counties, including Henrico. St. Joseph’s Villa recently hired Nicole Garrett as property manager of the Villa’s Hollybrook apartment complex and Claudia Perez as coordinator of the Villa’s new Flagler Housing Resource Center in Petersburg. Prior to joining St. Joseph’s Villa, Garrett worked as a leasing consultant for Forest City Enterprises and a property manager for Landmark Property Services. She is a 2005 graduate of Christopher Newport University. Perez has worked with Flagler Family and Community Services since 2004, serving first as a family life counselor and recently as the Villa’s first housing specialist, where she was responsible for the Villa’s Rapid Re-housing services for homeless families. As coordinator of the Housing Resource Center, Perez will lead efforts to provide prevention and rapid re-housing services.

RideFinders organizes car and van pools, promotes transit services, biking, walking, and telework commute options. St. Joseph’s Villa recently received a $50,000 grant in support of its Career and Transition Services (CATS) program from the Altria Companies Employee Community Fund. Funds will be used to provide training and experience in job skills, work habits, teamwork and leadership to students with emotional, behavioral, developmental or intellectual disabilities. St. Joseph’s Villa’s CATS program consists of a series of steps to prepare students for workplace employment: assessments, goal development, in-class training, on-campus internships and off-campus work. More than 40 students took part in the program during the 2010-2011 school year and more students are expected to take part in the program this year.

As part of GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets’ annual Support Our Troops in-store campaign, customers and associates made their largest donation to date – $623,905 – to The United Service Organizations Inc. (USO), a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to soldiers and their families. The campaign took place May 8-21. In addition, through the annual Women in Leadership Conference sponsored by GIANT/MARTIN’S, associates presented USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey (Liberty USO) with a donation of 46 tons of food, cleaning and health care items to assist military families in local communities. Since Support Our Troops began in 2005, GIANT/MARTIN’S customers and associates have donated more than $4 million to the USO.
