Crime Stoppers’ Crime of the Week: Oct. 16, 2017


This week, Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers is asking for the public to assist the Richmond Police Department in the identification of wayward artists that were using buildings as their canvas.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 14, four people were recorded on security cameras vandalizing multiple properties in the area of the 2500 blocks of West Main Street and Floyd Avenue. The suspects (pictured) were walking north on Robinson Street and spray painting the properties as they meandered along.

Cat that attacked Varina homeowner tests positive for rabies


OCT. 11, 11:15 A.M. – A cat that attacked a Varina resisdent Oct. 9 has tested positive for rabies, Henrico Police officials confirmed today. It is the county's fourth confirmed rabies case this year.

While the homeowner was entering the home in the 9000 block of Battlefield Park Road, a stray cat tried to run inside. When the homeowner attempted to scare the cat off the porch, the cat bit the homeowner on the hand and ran inside.

Henrico firefighters control blaze at Fareva plant


OCT. 9, 11:25 A.M. – Henrico firefighters extinguished an early-morning fire at the Fareva manufacturing facility on Darbytown Road in Varina today. None of the 25 employees in the facility at the time were injured.

Firefighters were called to the site, in the 2300 block of Darbytown Road, at about 4:20 a.m.
